I took this photo not knowing that a year later on 23 January 2020 three great men I'd met would perish in the crash of this aircraft (by then N134CG), fighting horrendous fires after the aircraft impacted terrain and burst into flames near Cooma, north-east of the Snowy Mountains in Australia. This is a tribute to those men who gave all for the good of another country. We thank them for their service.

Athens Organizing Committee for the Games of the XXVIII Olympiad (ATHOC) leased plane to fly the flame around the world in a relay to various cities, before returning to Greece. Arriving on EFHK to take flame in Helsinki, city of the 1952 Summer Olympics.

Douglas C-47-DL 49-2620 "Zeus" of the Royal Hellenic Air Force at Ringway in June 1955 after dropping off pilots to pickup Canadair Sabre 2s for delivery to Greece. This aircraft was originally 41-18419 and was sold for civil use in 1945. It was re-acquired by the US forces in 1949 for supply under MDAP to the RHAF.
