This P-47N-5-RE S/N 44-89320 was one of the last production Thunderbolts built at Republic Aviation in Farmingdale, NY. It is displayed in the markings of the 463rd Fighter Squadron, 507th Fighter Group while stationed at Ie Shima Island near Okinawa. Serial is painted under tailplane. It is still in potentially flyable state and when I photographed it in 1979 (see here) it carried registration N345GP. It spent its operational career with by the PR ANG after resignation as an F-47N in 1948. From 1954 it was preserved in Puerto Rico and was restored to flying condition in 1972

Damaged in an accident in 1948. Preserved at Lackland AFB. Painted with fake markings of 226418 by 1999 then 487959 by 2024.

One of 31 aircraft on display all around the Lackland parade field. Although painted as 44-87959, it is in fact ex 44-89348. It was previously falsely painted as "42-26418 / HV-A"

served with 47th FIs, 518th ADB of New York ANG at Niagara Falls MAP. Now at Cradle of Aviation Museum, Garden City, Long Island, New York on loan from USAF Museum

Built as 44-89436 for USAAF. To Nicaragua AF as GN71 post-war. Returned to USA as N478C and latterly N47TB but has suffered several crashes with the Confederate AF.

This Jug, as 44-89320, was one of the very last to roll off the Farmingdale production line and is now displayed inside at the USAF Armament Museum. She is painted in the colours of a 463 FS/507 FG aircraft 44-88129 whilst stationed at Shima Island near Okinawa in 1945. Ex N345GP.

This aircraft is painted to represent P-47D 42-26418. Its correct identity is P-47N 44-89348.
