Arguably the most beautiful colour scheme on a Super VC10. First flown from Brooklands to Wisely, UK 21 March 1967. Delivered to EAAC 21 March 1967 serving with the airline until it collapsed due to political interference in January 1977. Flown to the UK in May and sold to the RAF for conversion to K3 tanker in September 1977. Delivered to the RAF 4 July 1984 serving until retired in 2013 and flown to Newquay 28 August 2013 for preservation, registered as N148ZA on 1 November 2021. Broken up at Newquay in late 2023 and moved to St Athan where the forward fuselage is to be preserved at the South Wales Aviation Museum. Photographer unknown

Delivered to East African Airways as 5X-UVJ in 1969. Flown to Filton after East African Airways collapsed in 1977. Sold to the RAF as ZA149 in 1978. Converted to a K.3 tanker and delivered to the RAF in 1985. Last flight to Bruntingthorpe in 2013. Forward fuselage shipped to Sharjah for preservation. Remainder scrapped.

Arriving at Heathrow's Terminal 2 after an overnight flight from Nairobi.

Three VC-10s sharing Heathrow's 'Hotel' stands, just days before East African Airways was dissolved. First flying in Feb 1970, 5H-MOG was the last one built and was latterly the RAF 101 Sqdn's K.3 ZA150, scrapped in 2013. Note 5th engine pod. Behind is the penultimate one built, 5X-UVJ, which became ZA149 and coincidentally made the penultimate flight of the type into Dunsfold for the Brooklands Museum on 24 Sept 2013 (my photos also on AH).

This aircraft went on to become ZA150 of the Royal Air Force. It is seen at the BOAC maintenance area.
