Delivered to Hunting Clan as G-APTD in 1959. Merged into British United Airways in 1960. Photo possibly taken prior to a short term lease to Alia Royal Jordanian Airlines as JY-ADC in 1967 as the markings are partly removed. Returned to British United Airways then went to Arkia as 4X-AVD in 1970. Withdrawn from use at East Midlands in 1979 and used for parts. Remains scrapped in 1983.

Sold in 1969 to Arkia Israel for parts as 4X-AVB. With DC-6A OO-ABE (BIAS) and BAC One Eleven 320AZ G-AVBW (Laker).

[At airports where both 700 and 800 series Viscounts of BEA were seen, the way to tell them apart from afar was that the 800 taxied after landing on inboard engines, as here, and the 700 taxied on outboard engines.]

This snowy scene shows four British United Viscount 833s operating regularly scheduled flights to West Germany for troops and their families. Destinations included Gutersloh, Wildenrath and Hanover. An Aer Lingus Viscount is at the end of the international pier on this overcast day.
