The Avro Anson served in the Royal Air Force from 1936 until 1968! TX238 was part of an order for 85 Anson C.19 communications aircraft built at Yeadon in 1946. TX238 collided with a Sabre, XB634, on approach to Wildenrath on 5 April 1955. All three pilots were killed. The Anson then belonged to 2nd Tactical Air Force Communications Squadron. It seems to be wearing two general's stars on the tailfin here.

This Museum has long been defunct and this Anson reportedly ended up in Coventry as a source of spares.

24 Group Communication Flight. Aircraft behind is VL348(To G-AVVO and now preserved at Newark Air Museum) Had a 1 & 1/4 hr night flight in this a/c in September 1960 with fellow ROC members.

Withdrawn from use.

Operated by Southern Communication Squadron, based at RAF Bovingdon. Sold for scrap on retirement at Bovingdon in 1968 to C. Bilson Ltd.

Scrapped at Thruxton around 1970.

This communications Anson was built at Chadderton and went to Transport Command at Brize Norton in August 1947. After a period of storage, it was finally retired in November 1965, sold to Hawker Siddeley and flown to Halfpenny Green for civil conversion. This didn't happen and the frame sat out in the open deteriorating until finally scrapped. The nose section was saved and is now on display

Built at Chadderton and first flown from Woodford in 03.47. By 09.56 it was serving the Western Communications Squadron of RAF Transport Command. Retired in 09.68.

Delivered in 1949. Served several RAF communications units before retirement in November 1965. Sold to the Torbay Aircraft Museum.
