The Ca.100 'Caproncino' (little Caproni) was based on the DH.60 Moth, for which Caproni held a manufacturing licence. The main change was that the upper wing was made shorter than the lower wing - the inverted sesquiplane configuration favoured by the Italian company. In 1929 the Ca.100 won an Italian government competition for a new civil and military training aircraft. MM55430 seems to be one of the first production aircraft, the lowest batch of serials starting at MM55425. It was presumably photographed when new in 1929 or 1930. Photo from: Dan Shumaker collection

Sadly no c/n or MM known. The Italian Air Force Museum at Vigna di Valle acquired this landplane I-GTAB in May 2007. It is now marked with the registration FIR-9, appropriate to a Ca.100 serving at the Florence basic Flying School in the mid-1930s. (source wiki).

Nicknamed the 'Caproncino', the Ca.100 was a derivative of the D.H. 60 Cirrus Moth. Caproni and four other factories delivered 675 production aircraft as trainers to the Regia Aeronautica. The museum acquired this one in 2007 and displays it in the mid-1930s colours of the basic flying school in Florence.
