In the summer of 1982, Okanagan Helicopters won a contract that required an light twin engine helicopter. The company leased this AS 355 from ERA Helicopters (N355EH) to fulfill the contract. It was returned to ERA by November 1982.

Pictured being prepared for return to ERA Helicopters this Ecureuil 2 had been leased for the summer by Okanagan Helicopters as C-GXPO. Six years later on November 4, 1988, the helicopter was departing an offshore production platform in the Gulf of Mexico when the tail rotor drive shaft failed and it crashed after losing tail rotor function. It was found a coupling on the drive shaft was not up to normal every day use. Parts were re-designed and retro fitted to the AS355 fleet.
