Based on XB-42 Mixmaster technology, Douglas designed this five-seat executive aircraft and also an 48-passenger airliner called the DC-8. The sole Cloudster II only flew two times in 1947, suffering from vibrations in the long propeller shaft, overheating and cost overruns.
