Aeronca Aircraft returned to civilian aircraft production in 1945 with two new designs ; the 7AC Champion and 11AC Chief. The manufacturer ceased light aircraft production in 1951 and in 1954, the Champion Aircraft Corporation was formed and bought the 7AC design for production. This 1962 Champion Challenger was sold in September 2016 and was registered C-FPTR. It was involved in a mid-air collision on June 14, 2020, damaging the tail. The aircraft set down on the Ottawa River and flipped over with the pilot exiting with minor injuries. The other aircraft was able to land at Arnprior airport.

Look at that. Champions were common cropdusters in the area in 1960s, but many complained of its low speed characteristics, so they modified the rudder fin to ensure more yaw authority. I have only seen this modification in El Salvador and in a single Guatemalan of the same type.
