This aircraft has been restored to taxyable condition

Previously at Elvington, this has now been moved to East Kirkby. It engines can be run and it is being restored to taxyable condition.

Built May 1943, and serving only 3 months active service with 169 Sqn, this aircraft was restored from a derelict condition using parts from 4 other '"wooden bombers".

Photographed at the Yorkshire Air Museum Night Shoot. The original plan was to have the Mossie outside but due to the bad weather, and the fact that the plane isn't waterproof, it was kept in the hangar. This worked out well though as it made for some nice shots with some of the museum's collection in the background. This aircraft was moved to Doncaster in 2017

Composite airframe incorporating the cockpit section of T.II HJ711 which served with 169 Squadron - hence the use of the unit's 'VI' code letters. The rebuild also used major sections from RS715, PF498 and VA878.

This stunning exhibit at the Yorkshire Air Museum is a night-fighter version of this classic WWII all wooden aircraft (note the aerials on the nose) It is actually a composite of several aircraft but seems to be in excellent condition and the engines were being serviced on my visit. The aircraft was moved to Doncaster in 2017
