The Learjet 35ZR is an upgrade of the Learjet 35/36 series by Raisbeck Engineering with modifications designed to reduce drag at high cruise Mach numbers by 10%. Changes include inboard wing gloves, recontoured flaps and "horizontal winglets", which combine to increase cruise speed and range and reduce stall speed. Registered as N8566X in 1983, N66LN in 1985, N101US in 1991, N81CH in 2000, N81QH in 2002, N144LG in 2006 and N544LM in 2010.

This 1976 Lear 35 was originally registered in the USA as N199CJ to Corporationrate Jets. Converted as an electronic warfare simulator in 1995/96 and based in Naples, Italy. It was acquired by Maritime Sales and Leasing in 2000 and re-registered N99FN. It was in Australia by early 2001 operating under it's US registration on an RAN Fleet Support contract. On 28 July 2005 it was registered in Australia as VH-ESW.
