K25 slide scan. Built for LAI as I-LIRA 1958. Not taken up but instead delivered to TWA as N8083H. Converted to freighter 1961. Alaska Airlines 1962, retired 1967. Converted to bulk fuel carrier 1968 for use on the North Slope by Red Dodge Aviation and Prudhoe Bay Oil Distribution, stored Anchorage 1972, Kenai 1974. Flown to CHandler, AZ 1981 and overhauled 1983. Used as drug runner, damaged in Colombia late 1983. Flown to San Pedro Sula 1983 and stored. Acquired by Maurice Roundy 1986 and flown to Auburn-Lewiston, ME. Acquired by Lufthansa Berlin Stiftung 2006 together with N974R and N7316C.

At the time, flown by Burns Aviation was formerly "Star of Tigris" from Trans World. This aircraft is currently undergoing restoration / overhaul / preservation for Lufthansa as D-ALAN - hopefully she will grace the skies again.

Delivered to TWA as 'Star of the Tagus' in 1957 and flew with them until 1967, being converted to a freighter in 1960. Sold to California Airmotive in 1967 and to Prudhoe Bay Oil Distributing in 1969 before being withdrawn from use and stored at Anchorage in 1971. Moved to the fire training area in 1977 and scrapped in the mid 1990s.

Survived with N7316C, parked at Auburn-Lewiston, Maine adjacent to owner Maurice Roundy's house. Flew with TWA from 1958, then acquired by Alaska Airlines as a freighter in 1962, passing through a number of hands from 1968, initially as a bulk oil carrier. Arrived here in 1986. Bought by Lufthansa at a bankruptcy auction in 2007 as part of a restoration project. Not then flyable due to wing corrosion and used as a spares source for N7613C. Refurbished for static display in original TWA colours. Currently in use as a cocktail bar at the TWA Hotel adjacent to the old TWA terminal at JFK Airport.

Slide taken in 1984 at La Mesa Airport. After a short stint transporting marijuana N8083H was left abandoned at San Pedro Sula from 1983 through 1986. Mr. Maurice Roundy acquired the a/c and ferried it back to Maine. This slide is enlarged quite a bit as I wasn't allowed to get very close to it by the Honduran security at the field.

Shown just after retirement by CJS Air Cargo with their symbol on its fin. The last two letters of its previous N179AV registration are showing through on the rear fuselage.

This Starliner had to make a precautionary landing because of engine trouble on its delivery flight to the new owner. This has been here for a long time.

While she was looking pretty good in the 2012 photo, the harsh Florida sun has taken its toll and she is in need of a paint job Check out the 2014 and 2016 photos to see the slow progression of paint deterioration.

The stylised CJS on the fin could be any combination of these letters as an airline title

Delivered new to Trans World Airlines in July 1957. Converted from pax to freight in 1961. Sold in 1967. Scrapped at Miami in early 1973.

This was the last time I saw a Starliner in flight. Delivered new to Lufthansa as D-ALAN.

Complex cockpit for a very complex airplane. Aircraft ferried to Fantasy of Flight in Polk, Florida in October 2001, where it is on display in 2018.

The cabin has come a long way since its glory days on Lufthansa's 40-seat luxury Senate Class transatlantic service.
