HS-6 arrived in Finland on 11-Jan-1978 and first flew under the Finnish Air Force until the end of 1996. It was one of the helicopters involved in the rescue of the ferry Estonia on 28th September 1994. From the beginning of 1997, all helicopters in service were operated by Army. HS-6 flew its last flight on 11-Jan-2007. Its current location is 61° 6' 13.95" N, 24° 51' 56.351" E.

When first retired from Air Force service back in the 1980s, this Mi-8 was placed on display at the Finnish Aviation Museum at Helsinki-Vantaa Airport. It later moved to the Lahti-Vesivehmaa collection, and most recently to the Tuulos shopping centre where DC-2 DO-1 is preserved indoors.

Last flight on January 2007, but still keep moving around. May 5th, 2021 moved to next location, in Tuulos - 61° 6' 13.95" N 24° 51' 56.351" E ( Kauppakeskus / shopping mall Tuulonen)
