Acquired from Continental Airlines (N8908) in 1973, C-FTOU was first leased to Air Florida less than a month as N73AF in June 1976 before later short leases as N65AF and N66AF between 1979 - 81. Sold to Emerald Airlines in December 1981, Ross Aviation bought the aircraft in 1984 and operated it for the US Department of Energy registered N166DE. With Jet Midwest (2011 - 19), Kalitta Charters II (N917CK) flew it 2013 - 19 until stored at Oscoda-Wurtsmith Airport, MI. It was exported to Mexico for Aeronaves TSM where it is registered XA-VFD at the time of uploading.

From 1978 to 1981 this frame was a yoyo lease with Air Canada's C-FTOU. However, the previous leases had been registered N73AF (once) and N65AF (thrice).

This DC-9 was originally delivered to Continental as N8908 in September 1967. It went on to fly for Air Florida and Air Canada before joining Kalitta, originally as N166DE, in June 2013. The plane is still active with Aeronaves TSM as XA-VFD.
