Built in 1959 as A4D-2 (redesignated A-4B in 1962). Served in the US Navy from 1959 to 1968 with BuNo 145047. In 1968 moved to Naval Air Reserve Training Unit, Glenview, Il. From 1970 stored at at Military Aircraft Storage and Disposition Center (Tuscon, AZ). Then purchased by Singapore and in 1974-75 converted at the Lockheed Aircraft Service in Ontario, CA to the TA-4S version as the first of seven aircraft of this type. First flight after rebuilding on February 21, 1975. Returned to singapore in 1976 to join 142 Sqn. From 2001 nose section of 651 is on display at the RSAF Museum.
