The Lake Tahoe Special is a rebuild of a RC-3 Seabee, variously reported as c/n 550 or 172, fitted with a General Motors LS6 Corvette engine and a reversible four bladed MT propeller.

Visiting from its Boundary Bay (CZBB) base is this modified 1947 built Republic Seabee. It was modified in Ontario, around 2010, as C-FOME to the one-of-a-kind Thunder Bee with a converted Chevy V-8 engine. Next it was exported as N300TB in 2012 then re-imported as above in 2017.

The c/n 001 is not its original c/n which is unknown. Sometimes listed as c/n 172 which was once earmarked for conversion to a Lake Tahoe Special. A different airframe was chosen and c/n 172 still existed as a bare airframe in 2010. The Lake Tahoe Special was a conversion to a 405hp GM LS-6 Robinson V8 engine. N48VP sunk at Lake Shasta after hitting a hidden object while landing on January 21, 2011.
