K25 slide scan. Delivered to Deutsche Lufthansa der DDR April 1960 as DM-STA. Renamed Interflug September 1963, reregistered DDR-STA July 1981. Withdrawn by 1988, stored at Leipzig for preservation. By March 2009 fully restored to Lufthansa colours as DM-STA and put on display again. The Aeropark Leipzig was under construction when this image was taken with the aircraft already in place. It ceased to exist when the airport was enlarged and the collection needed to be moved.

With IL-62 DDR-SEF which is now used as a restaurant in downtown Leipzig , DDR-STA is still at the airport but moved near the Terminal and painted in Lufthansa Colours scanned from print

This Il-18 flew with the original flag-carrier of the DDR from April 1960 and subsequently with Interflug from September 1963. It was then given the new-prefix DDR- reg. in July 1981 until cancellation in September 1988. The frame is now preserved close to the a passenger terminal at LEJ with a grey underbelly finish, rather than the original natural metal (necessary for long-term outdoor protection).

This aircraft brought in replacement crew for East German Trawlers and factory ships. This was a quite regular occurrence at GLA in the 1980's
