Carries the colours of US/UK aircraft propulsion research and development company ZeroAvia, as its second hydrogen-electric power testbed. Taxiing for a Runway 30 departure to its new UK base at Cotswold Airport, Kemble, after a fuel stop at Prestwick following a transatlantic arrival. Built in 1986. Became N228ME. Joined Vision Air at Las Vegas, Nevada, in 2001 and was re-registered N409RV in 2004. Acquired by ZeroAvia Inc of Hollister, California, in 2022 and initially held in storage. Possibly soon to adopt a UK registration.

In May 2022, this airframe was delivered to ZeroAvia, a UK and US based startup firm developping zero emissions propulsion engines for smaller commuter aircraft. N409VA became the 2nd testbed for the ZA600 (600kW) hydrogen-electric engine developped by ZeroAvia. The 1st DO228 used for the test and certification process is c/n 8046 registered G-HFZA. Based in the UK, G-HFZA first flew with the ZA600 engine installed on the left hand side on January 18, 2023, while the right engine still is the Jet A-1 fuel powered Honeywell TPE-331 turboprop.

All of Vision Air's Dornier 228's have different Tail colours and two of them can be seen here. Three of the Do228's have nice Nose Art on them depicting scenes of las Vegas.

On the nose is a cartoon Do 228 overflying the Las Vegas Strip, as well as the airline's FAA certificate number.
