One of several Ju-52s which landed on the frozen Lake Hartigvannet in Norway on 13 April 1940 and which were recovered from the lake-bed in good condition in the mid-1980s.

Salvaged from Hartvig Lake near Narvik in Norway. A gorgeous historic exhibit but, while the swastikas have been removed, not everybody, certainly in Germany itself, will be crazy about how it's on display right outside the gate of a modern Luftwaffe airbase. Sorry for the other Junkers product they had to put in the way.

This is how German alpine troops rode to the war in Norway in April 1940. Having landed on Hartvig Lake near Narvik, this Iron Annie went down intact when the ice melted, and now forms the impressive centrepiece of a small museum at Wunstorf.
