The former French air force Noratlas No. 66 has been given a full German livery, complete with retro code on the nose. Both it and C-160D 5107 show the image of Hans Huckebein der Unglücksrabe (the bad luck raven), the main character in an 1867 comic. The bird was taken over by LTG62 as its crest from the Flugzeugführerschule 'S', when that was merged into the transport wing.

Salvaged from Hartvig Lake near Narvik in Norway. A gorgeous historic exhibit but, while the swastikas have been removed, not everybody, certainly in Germany itself, will be crazy about how it's on display right outside the gate of a modern Luftwaffe airbase. Sorry for the other Junkers product they had to put in the way.

This is how German alpine troops rode to the war in Norway in April 1940. Having landed on Hartvig Lake near Narvik, this Iron Annie went down intact when the ice melted, and now forms the impressive centrepiece of a small museum at Wunstorf.
