Originally American Airlines N5603, and after MEA it became EC-BXI with Spantax.

Stored out of service with Spantax titles removed, reportedly broken up in 1991.

slide scan from the NK collection. - From 1967 till 1987, Spantax operated a total of 14 Coronados, ten ex American Airlines aircraft and another four ex Swissair. Two were lost in accidents, the rest was retired at Palma in the eighties. One of those (EC-BZO) even survives in derelict condition, last reported in October 2022; the pictured EC-BXI, however, was scrapped in 1991.

The Coronado was an exotic beast, SPANTAX loved theirs and hung on to them a long time. I was lucky enough to fly on a Swissair CV-990.

Later flown by Middle East Airlines as OD-AFI and Spantax as EC-BXI. Broken up in 1991.

Delivered new to American Airlines in February 1963. Served MEA from July 1969 until March 1971. Later EC-BXI with Spantax.
