The second prototype of the Marathon initially flew without the central tailfin which was added in 1948 or 1949. To RAF in 1952 as VX229.

The second prototype of the Miles Marathon over The Needles, off the Isle of Wight. Formerly G-AILH. Continuing as the Handley Page Marathon, the 20-passenger airliner type was unsuccessful and used mostly by the RAF as a navigation trainer.
