VH-INX soon after arrival from Melbourne-Essendon. It had been trucked to Melton to be converted to an airport cafe. Sometime in 1972 the undercarriage retracted and it lay on its belly with the Ansett-ANA markings blacked out. Back on its undercarriage the tail was painted white but from then on it was all downhill. Parts went missing including the cargo doors and the rudder and the paint flaked off. INX eventually fell back on its tail and remained that way until scrapped in the early 1990s.

It's days were numbered when this shot ( in a field ) was taken.

VH-INX was trucked from Melbourne Essendon to become an airfield cafeteria. That did not eventuate. Weather and vandals reduced the aircraft to a wreck and it was scrapped in 1991.

VH-INX was withdrawn from use at Melbourne-Essendon in December 1970. It never flew again. It was trucked Melton airfield not far from Melbourne but plans to use it as a cafeteria never happened. VH-INX was scrapped in 1991.

Built for USAAF as 43-17127. Operated by Australian National Airlines from April 1951. Merged into Ansett-ANA October 1957. Laterly used as a freighter. Retired in late 1970 and later broken up.
