Delivered to the USAAF as 45-578 in 1945. To Transcontinental and Western as N79065 in 1946 then to Seaboard and Western in 1947. To the USAF as 45-578 in 1954 then to NASA as NASA 238 in 1962, NASA 438 in 1964 and N438NA in 1969. To Aero Specialities then Globe Air in 1981 and Air Response in 1986. Stored for many years at Mesa-Falcon Field. To Brooks Air Fuel and flown to Fairbanks, AK in 2009. Stored when they ceased ops in 2011 and still there in 2021.

Later owners Globe Air and Air Response, always remained based at Falcon Field, keeping its NASA colours but does not seem to have flown beyond mid/late eighties. Aquired by Brooks Fuel in 2010 and flown to Fairbanks. Used for parts, Brooks suspended operations in 2011.

Acquired by Brooks in 2010 and ferried from Mesa, Arizona to Fairbanks in August of that year. Reported to have been sold to Alaska Air Fuel at the April 2020 Brooks Fuel auction.

Stored for many years at Falcon Field this aircraft was built in 1945 and started its life with the USAF before flying for various commercial airlines and then on to NASA and finally joining Air Response where it finished it's working life.

Two tired ex Globe Air DC-4's...former NASA N438NA with N67017 in the background. N67017 has since been scrapped and N438NA was acquired by Brooks Air Fuel and ferried to Fairbanks, Alaska, where it was stored in 2018.
