XA903 was the Blue Steel trials aircraft and became the Rolls-Royce test bed for Concorde Olympus and Tornado RB199 engines also had an experimental 27mm canon fit. She made the last flight of a B.1 at Farnborough and was broken up in 1984. The nose went to the Wales Aircraft Museum that year, followed by Sidcup, London by 1993. Preserved at Wellsbourne Mountford since 1999.

This Vulcan B.1 was retained for tests. First flew in 1957 and in 1962 it was modified for trials carrying the Blue Steel long range missile in its bomb bay, as seen here. It was later used by Bristol Siddeley Engines to test the Olympus 593 as used in Concorde. Obtained from Avros nearly 50 years ago.

A famous Vulcan indeed - used solely as a test bed for the Blue Steel missile project, then the Concorde Olympus 593 and later RB199 engine development with a mock-up MRCA (Tornado) fuselage under-slung including a trial cannon installation.
