We gather this rescue flying boat type - with beaching gear - was conceived as the Atlantic Fokker (A)F-15 to become the General Aviation GA-15. The USCG called it the Flying Life Boat (FLB). Later this designation was changed to PJ in the US Navy system. This was the first of five airframes built, first flown in 1931 and delivered in January 1932. In 1933 this one was rebuilt to PJ-2 standard with tractor propellers. USCG serial number changed from 51 to 251 and then to V116. Named Antares. V116 reportedly withdrawn in 1940.
