Jagdfliegergeschwader 2 was based at Neubrandenburg/Trollenhagen. It had recently changed from MiG-21PFM to MiG-21M. The latter were reserialled with German registrations in the 22+xx range, also the old MiG-21SPS-K were. However, some shelters held three stored MiG-21PFM that were kept out of the books. These were destined for the Iranian Revolutionary Guards, but ended up being scrapped.
