The first public appearance of the Gripen NG, or JAS39E in Swedish Air Force parlour, happened at Ronneby in 2019. Notable differences with previous Gripen variants include the single wheel nosewheel, a laser seeker on top of the nose, a much larger wing root and an air intake at the base of the vertical stabilizer.
