Chevron USA established a new offshore helicopter base at Galliano - South Lafourche Leonard Miller Jr. Airport in 2014 to support deepwater oil production platforms in the Gulf of Mexico. The base replaced a heliport in use since the 1960s at Leeville, about 14 miles to the south, which often flooded during hurricanes. Chevron used the VHI Cougar passenger terminal at GAO until it built a base of its base. This new S-92A was just delivered from the Sikorsky factory in Coatesville, PA. The registration N249JT is on tape on the tail boom covering its new Chevron USA registration N392LS.
