Before unification this Mil Mi-8 served with the East German Navy as 773 with MHG 18 'Kurt Barthel'. When integrated into the Bundesmarine, it was 94+01 and flew as part of the Marinehubschraubergruppe Parow until 1994. To mark the final flight this colour scheme was applied. Looking worse for wear in 2015, it was repainted in the early 2020s as can be seen in later photos.

Originally delivered in 1981 to the NVA as '773' in Marxwalde. After return from refurbishment in Hungary during 1988 she was transferred to the NVA-Volksmarine (MHG 18 'Kurt Barthel' based at Parow near Stralsund) as a VIP transport. After unification she was allocated the serial 94+01 and flew until 1994 when she was retired to the Aeronauticum museum. The special Griffin scheme originating from the Land Vorpommern was applied to mark her last flight.
