This photo was taken the day after the accident. The mishap occurred on landing, the a/c being number two in a two ship formation. Damage was such that it was retired to AMARC at Davis Monthan AFB, AZ. in 2012. Not the type of publicity the USAF expected at EAA Airventure!

This F-16 is interesting for at least two reasons. Firstly, it is the Viper that famously crashed at Oshkosh in 2011 after running off the runway. Also, one can see parts reclamation (the 'R' in AMARG) actually taking place as the radome and antennae have been removed and boxed up ready to be reused if/when required. This F-16 was retired to AMARG during July 2012.
