Photographer Frank Smith - ex USAF 53-3285

Delivered to the USAF as 53-3285 in 1955. To the US Navy as 153694 in 1965. Stored at Davis-Monthan AFB with park code 8C041 in 1985. Sold in 1987 and registered as N7041U. To Aero Ejecutivos as YV-502C in 1990. Crashed into the sea off Curaçao in bad weather in 1992.

Not really a warbird, but still in (almost) full US Navy colours. Any help on the location is appreciated.

Delivered as 53-3285 to the US Air Force and after that went to the US Navy as 153694. After storage at Davis Monthan is was re-registered N7041U in 1988 before ending up as YV-502C. It crashed into the sea off Curacao just 8 months after this picture was taken on 18th September, 1992.

No doubts about its previous identity. Still in US Navy markings as 153694 / JT-694 with only the titles painted out, including MASDC inventory number 8C042 on the nose. Became YV-502C two months later, and as such it crashed into ocean south of the Dominican Republic on 18 September 1992.

Sitting here in the Western International yard, this C-118 went on to a civil career but crashed into the sea off Curacao on 18 September 1992. At that time it was operating as YV-502C with Aero Ejecutivos SA.
