The last time I saw this artifact, it was attached to the Goodyear Blimp Columbia flying overhead in 1982. Stored after the Columbia was retired and disassembled in 1986, the gondola was donated to the Air and Space Museum in 2011.

Retired 1986

The Columbia was in operation from 1975 until retired in 1986. The control gondola, which was first used on Goodyear's Enterprise airship in 1936 and transferred to the US Navy in WWII, was re-acquired by Goodyear in 1946. In storage until refurbished for Columbia and stored in 1986 after disassembly, the historic item was donated to the National Air and Space Museum in 2011.
