After independence sixty Indonesian cadets attended the TALOA Academy of Aeronautics in Oakland, CA for flight training on PT-13s. The academy was established in 1946 as a division of Transocean Air Lines (TALOA), and the contract with the Indonesian government was their first major training contract. This PT-13 was acquired by the museum to represent those flown in 1950-51 but was originally 42-17485 for the USAAF. Post-war it was used as a crop duster however in 1978 was written off near Olathe, KS, while buzzing low and colliding with trees.

Acquired by Aero Spacelines Inc. as N404Q, and stored for spares. Re-registered to N9600H in 1967, hand-painted registration barely visible on the lower rear fuselage just behind the wing. Photographer unknown.

Delivered new to BOAC as G-ALSD on 12/16/49. Sold to TALOA Transocean Air Lines on 9/7/58 as N85Q and rr N403Q 10/14.59.

After Transocean shut down, this aircraft remained at Oakland for some years, slowly deteriorating while ownership passed through several companies. It was finally scrapped in place in 1968/1969. This was the final production Stratocruiser built.

Built in 1949 for BOAC as G-AKGH and in 1965 it was registered to Aero Spacelines, of Guppy fame, who likely used it for spare parts.

Built in 1947 for KLM as PH-TDC and subsequently flew with BOAC as G-ANUV. Scrapped at Amsterdam in 1966 as OE-IFE.

Built in 1948 for KLM as PH-TDI and subsequently flew with BOAC as G-ANVB from 1955 to 1958. Scrapped in 1963.

Built in 1949 for Pan American and flew with BOAC as G-ANUM fom 1954 to 1958. TALOA livery was yellow and black (I think).

A rare photo of a Lockheed 18 with one of the nonsked airlines. It is also rare because of its history, being ex US Coast Guard 2101 and V-188. It was offered for sale in 1954 by Allied Aircraft Company for $48,000.
