Norman Gunston was a fictitious TV celebrity played by actor Garry McDonald. The character was past its peak when a TV network took Gunston on the road for a magazine style TV show called Gunston's Australia. Travmar's VH-SBO was his means of transport. After the show was completed, the DC-3 was stored at Bankstown airport in the Gunston livery. It was badly damaged on September 15, 1982, when a suicidal pilot slammed into the ground near it. -SBO's remains ended up on the fire dump, save its nose, which has been preserved.
