A Pratt & Whitney powered DST-A delivered to United Airlines ac NC25620 in 1940, this DC-3 was impressed into USAAF service in 1942 as C-48B 42-38326. Returned to United in 1944, the aircraft was sold to Ford Motor Company as N301K in 1949. Flown by the auto maker until 1967, it came to Canada as CF-VQV. Operating the aircraft from 1970, Arctic Outpost Camps withdrew it in 1975 and it's pictured stored at Edmonton. The airframe was later moved to Red Deer, AB where it remains stored.

Nearest to the camera is this Douglas Sleeper Transport, still in storage with Buffalo at the date of uploading apparently. In the middle is bare metal C-FFAY that was sold to Basler Turbo Conversions as N856QB, registered September 2018, but was still in Red Deer in October 2019. The third one, CF-JWP, also went to Basler and was actually trucked to Oskhosh in September 2019. Still in its Gateway Aviation livery, it had also been registered, to N856YB, a year earlier.

Built in 1940 as a DST with RH entry door for United Airlines, this historic aircraft has been languishing dismantled at Red Deer/AB for many years. However it was registered to Hay River Air Services on 22 March 2018, so who knows?
