As late as May 2009 was still dismantled at Cherry Point.

Ca. 1979: TOS USN, assigned to Electronic Attack Squadron 140 (VAQ-14), NAS Whidbey Island, WA. By August 1990: VAQ-130 at Whidbey; later deployed on USS John F. Kennedy for combat in Operation Desert Storm. By 1994: VAQ-132 at Whidbey. By 2003: Marine Tactical Electronic Warfare Squadron 4 (VMAQ-4), MCAS Cherry Point, NC. By September 2005: Back at Whidbey with VAQ-135. 3 March 2006: 3/3/06: Suffered an engine failure during a low-level training flight over northeastern Oregon. All four crew members safely ejected.

1968: TOS USMS as A-6A, and assigned to VMA(AW)-225 at MCAS Cherry Point, NC. 1/69: Deployed to Da Nang Air Base, South Vietnam. During 1969 the plane was sent to join VMA(AW)-533 of MCAS Iwakuni, Japan, while it was deployed to Chu Lai Air Base in Vietnam. From 1970 to May 1971: VMA(AW)-225 at Da Nang. 5/71: VMA(AW)-225 rotated back to MCAS El Toro, CA. 6/72: VMA(AW)-242 El Toro. Ca.1976: Converted to A-6E. By 1977: VA-35, NAS Oceana, VA. By 1987: VA-128, NAS Whidbey Island, WA. 1995: VA-115 at NAS Yokosuka, Japan. 22 Jul 1996: Davis-Monthan AFB, AZ, for storage. 12/00: SOC and scrapped.

Ca.1985: VA-95, NAS Whidbey Island, WA. 1987: VA-165, also at Whidbey. 1990: VA-155, NAS Whidbey. Fall 1990: Deployed aboard USS Ranger to fight in Operation Desert Storm. 18 Jan 1991: Downed over Kuwait by anti-aircraft. The two crew safely ejected but were killed by enemy forces after landing; their bodies were later recovered.

1966: TOS USN as A-6A. From 5/66 to 1968 it served in VA-65, twice deployed for combat in Vietnam. 1968: Converted to A-6B. Deployed again to Vietnam. Ca.1972: Converted to A-6E. From 1977 to 1980 served with VMA (AW)-121. 5/77 to 5/78: Deployed to MCAS Iwakuni, Japan. 1981: VA-196, NAS Whidbey Island, WA. By 1987 it began serving the following units: VMA(AW)-533, VMA(AW)-224, VMA(AW)-332 and late 1990 back to VMA(AW)-224, deployed to Sheikh Isa Air Base in Bahrain for Operation Desert Storm. 1992: VA-52 at NAS Whidbey Island. 1/95 Davis-Monthan AFB, AZ. 16 Mar 1999: SOC.
