After 2 more owners, in Feb 1942 it was purchased by Defense Supplies Corporation, Washington, DC for impressment into USAAF service. 16 Mar '42: TOS USAAF as UC-71 42-38265. Used as a staff transport. Jul 44: Returned to civil use. Several owners until Jan '82 purchased by MarJon Realty (Peter Hawks, son of movie producer Howard Hawks), San Carlos, CA. It was restored by November 1984, marked as 44-70534 as it appeared in 1946 with Air Transport Command in Alaska.

Constructed in 1936 by Mr. M.M. Wilder, with c/r NC16817. He was a member of the Civil Air Patrol and based this plane at Coastal Base 2, Rehoboth, DE, during WWII. Mr. Wilder was awarded the Air Medal for his service at Coastal Patrol Base 2. 28 Sep '72: George L. Weiss, Ft. Washington, MD. In 1991 Mr. Weiss donated this plane to the Air Force Museum and flew it there; at the time he was a retired Lt. Colonel. The plane was then repainted as it appeared while flying with the CAP during WWII.

Sometime over the next few years this plane ended up in the hands of G.L. Waggoner and registered N94540. 15 Sep 66: Unknown owner with c/r N51605. Ca.1979: Unknown owner in Mexico with c/r XA-SEX. 1981: Ferried to the Air Force Museum where it was restored as a USAAF aircraft.

Nov 42: TOS USAAF. 1945: Unknown owner in El Salvador with c/r YS-22; converted to L18-50 and flew airline service until early 1960s. Sep 71: Confederate Air Force, Harlingen, TX with c/r N30N. They marked it as aircraft of 224 Squadron, RAF Coastal Command. 1982: Repainted as aircraft of USAAF.

By Feb 1941: constructed as L-18-08. To Trans-Canada Airlines with c/r CF-TCY. 1941-1947: Flagship of the TCA fleet. Mar 48: Transport Department, Canada. Converted to Club Executive model for use by Prime Minister Louis St. Laurent, Cabinet Ministers, and visiting heads of state. Ca. 1967: Found abandoned at Chicago Midway Airport, seized by the airport authority and destined for scrap. 1968: Earl Reinert, Victory Air Museum, Mundelein, IL. Wings removed for transport to Mundelein. Ca.1969: Marked to represent RAF Hudson operating during WWII.

1944: Constructed as a VC-54C using a C-54A fuselage mated to modified C-54B wings. VIP interior included an elevator at the rear of the aircraft for President Roosevelt and his wheel chair. It also had bullet-proof picture windows. By Jun 44: TOS USAAF, assigned to the 503rd Army Air Force Base Unit, Bolling Field, DC. 21 Jan 45: Departed Washington, DC for its participation in movement of personnel for the Yalta Conference. For security reasons, it was marked with a serial number of a C-54 which was lost in the Pacific (42-72252).

3 May 45: To USAAF as C-54D 42-72592, transferred directly to USN as R5D-3 56511. UNK: converted to R5D-3Z. 1962: Redesignated VC-54S. Mar 72: US Military Training Mission, Dhahran, Saudi Arabia. Feb '75: Began civilian life, eventually registered N67029 then N9016Q and back to N67029. Dec '95 it was stored at Ellsworth AFB and in April 1996 it was registered to the Air Force Museum as it joined the AFM Loan Program and loaned the plane to the South Dakota Air & Space Museum..

30 Apr '42: TOS USAAF as C-53 42-6474. Beginning in 1945 the plane went through many owners. Registrations included XA-DUI, XA-HIP, N5139B, N46TE, N162E. Ca.1993: Viking Express/Robert Burwell, IL. Ca.1994: Pelican Air/Robert Burwell with c/r N22RB. By Jul '95: Vintage Airways/Robert Burwell. Feb '98: Jade Software Corporation, Boca Raton, FL. 13 Aug 2004: Destroyed by Hurricane Charley.

29 Jan '42: TOS USAAF as C-53 41-20095 and assigned to Bolling Field, Washington, DC. Mar '42: Ferry Command, Presque Isle Army Air Field, ME. Jul '42: North Atlantic Wing of Air Transport Command. There is some information which says this plane was in the Pacific Theatre for a short time and that for two months it was used as General MacArthur's personal transport. Ca.Nov '42 to ca. May '43: Participated in Operation Torch. Sep 45: Begin life in civilian world. Oct '64: Ohio State Became primarily a transport for Ohio's governor, using the calls sign "Ohio One." Sep 1977: Air Force Museum.

May '45: To USAAF as TC-47B 44-77027, transferred to Navy. Jun 45: TOS USN as R4D-7 99856. 1954: Converted to R4D-6R. 1956: US Dep of Navy with c/r N7091C. Sep '56: Registered N34. Loaned to CAA for flight inspection duties. Jul '62: Redesignated TC-47K. Jul '66: SOC. Aug '66: FAA Flight Inspection. Jun '83: WFU.
