Part of the Skyfame Collection's impressive static line-up at the 1975 Gloucestershire Air Show. Skyfame sadly closed at Staverton in January 1978. TG263 made its way to Duxford along with much of the collection, transferring to Solent Sky at Southampton by 1993. It remains on display there in 2024.

First jet powered seaplane. First flew as TG263 in 1947. Retired in 1951. Presented to the College of Aeronautics at Cranfield in 1954. Moved to the Skyfame Museum at Staverton in 1966, then to the Imperial War Museum at Duxford in 1978. Photo taken soon after restoration had been completed. Designed as a seaplane fighter, TG263, the first of three prototypes made its first flight on 16 July 1947. The project was later shelved largely due to supply and production problems with its Metropolitan Vickers Beryl engines. The aircraft was briefly reprieved for the Festival of Britain in 1951, flying as G-12-1, after which it was presented to the College of Aeronautics at Cranfield remaining with them until moved to the Skyfame museum in 1966. When Skyfame closed in 1978 the aircraft moved to Duxford and was loaned to the Solent Sky Museum in 1991 before being purchased by them in 2011.

TG263 was the 1st prototype, and sole survivor, of the three which were built of this experimental flying boat fighter. It is devoid of all marks in this photograph, perhaps following a respray?
