Built by the Jeløy Glider Club between 1938-1940 and registered for the first time in March 1940. In 1960 the registration was cancelled and the glider was stored in a barn. It later got restored by the historic aviation society of Bodø and put on display at the Norwegian aviation museum.

The ESG-29 is a single-seat primary training glider from 1929 that flew in many countries. Large numbers have been built, also by gliding clubs. It had the nickname "Schädelspalter" (skullsplitter) because of the strut in front of the pilot, but no such occurrences have been reported. The one seen here is an airworthy replica built by Klaus Heyn and handed over to the Deutsches Segelflugmuseum at Wasserkuppe in 1988.
