Royal Aircraft Factory S.E. 2a see here at Farnborough in late 1914 early 1915 showing the tail code of 609. The SE 2a evolved from the B.S. 1 which crashed on 27th March 1914 due to the design of the small rudder injuring Geoffrey de Havilland the pilot. The aircraft was rebuilt with triangular fins and a larger rudder, it was initially designated B.S. 2 but it was soon redesignated S.E. 2. The aircraft was again rebuilt in April 1914 under the supervision of Henry Folland and became S.E. 2a. The aircraft saw service in WW1 with number 5 Sqn and 3 Sqn. From my collection.
