American industrialist Powell Crosley Jr. was a prolific manufacturer in the first half of the 1900s. Producing Auto Parts, radios, household appliances, cars also included airplanes for a short time. The Crosley Moonbeam first flew December 8, 1929. Five variations were produced. The first was a three-place parasol; next, a four-place, high wing cabin model; third and fourth were one place high wings. Due to the Great Depression, planned production did not take place. This sole open cockpit bi-plane version is also the last Moonbeam in existence. The other four were lost in a hangar fire.

The Heath Center Wing, developed from earlier mid-wing racing aircraft, was popular with those able to fly one. The aircraft was also available in simplified kit form pioneered by Heath. Unfortunately 1933 was the depths of the US Depression and only about six aircraft were built (plus an unknown number of kits).
