Demonstrating lowering the rescue swimmer into the water. I took this slide from the flight deck of USS Midway. Originally built for the US Navy as a SH-3A. Later converted to a SH-3G, and finally to a UH-3H. Retired on 8 July 2005.

This 829 Sq. Wasp was assigned to HMS Rothesay which was one of many ships participating in the 1975 Midlink Excercise. It had just dropped off two Royal Navy officers aboard CV-41 in preparation for the airshow later in the day.

This slide was taken during the USS Midway Fall 1975 Indian Ocean cruise. VQ-1 used the rabbit and globe vertical tail marking in 1975 only on this EA-3B.

In November 1975 USS Midway was operating in various areas of the Indian Ocean as well as the Gulf of Oman. VMFP-3 provided photo reconnaissance for Carrier Air Wing 5 and maintained a detachment of RF-4Bs aboard the ship whenever it was at sea.

Here we have the unusual combo of an E-2B from VAW-115 leading EA-6A 156990 of VMAQ-2. VMAQ-2 provided a detachment of four EA-6A a/c that were assigned to CVW-5.

This slide was taken from the flight deck of USS Midway. KA-6D NF-523 of VA-115 refueling EA-3B Bureau Number 142671 of VQ-1 as part of the Midlink 75 exercise airshow. One of the guests aboard CV-41 for the airshow was the Shah of Iran. As the A-3 was not the easiest a/c to take on fuel from a tanker a/c under normal circumstances this is an impressive display of airmanship by the "Whale" pilot.
