A1-3 struck and killed two spectators while taking off for an air display at Swansea during a tour of Tasmania. The aircraft suffered major undercarriage and propeller damage but the pilot and observer were able to return to the aerodrome. The pilot was charged over the deaths. He was acquitted. A1-3 was repaired. Almost a year to the day it forced landed for a lack a fuel during a flight to Tasmania. Swansea's first aerodrome, on a property called Red Banks, was replaced by a new aerodrome at Cambria, another farming property. Photo from: Lindsay Millar
