The preliminary Free City of Danzig registration FD-15 is blocked, but construction number 1504 is clearly readable on the front fuselage of this airliner of the Danziger Luftreederei. The front fuselage is painted yellow and black. It does not yet carry the silver crosses of Danzig (Gdansk) on the rudder. To Dz-4 in 1921. While the Fokker-Grulich F.II version was built by Deutsche Luft-Reederei, 1504 is a Fokker c/n. Presumably due to a miscommunication it was issued to an F.III too, H-NABH. The R III light single-seater, designed by brothers Werner and Walter Rieseler, was produced mainly in Breslau (now Wrocław) by the Stahlwerk Mark conglomerate, originally a steel mill. About 50 R III aircraft are thought to have been built. This photo was taken at Devau airport in Königsberg, East Prussia (now Kaliningrad) where the Altpreussen flying school was a Mark dealer. The left half of the same original as photo 348021. This Danziger Luftpost aircraft does not yet carry its Danzig Free State registration Dz-35, but the German registration has been altered with a Z within the D. The coat of arms of Danzig (now Gdansk in Poland) contains two silver crosses above each other on a red shield, so the rudder is red. Photo taken at Königsberg, then in German East Prussia, now in the Russian Kaliningrad exclave. Photo from: ETH-Bibliothek Zürich
Registration / Serial:D-152
Alternate Registration:DZ-152
