The L.A. County Fire Department started to use Bell 412's in early 1990. Seven Bell 412 airframes have been introduced over the years, with two Bell 412HP and three Bell 412EP remaining in service when this picture was taken. N14LA is a 2005 built airframe returning to its homebase for maintenance here, after having spent the previous 24 hours on stand-by on a forward operating base.

This airframe was the 2nd S-70A "Firehawk" purchased new by the LACoFD in 2001. It returns here at 8am from a 24 hour shift it spent on Helipad "Bravo 69", which is located closer to a possible bush fire than Barton heliport, cutting down the response time if need be. Each day around 10am, another S-70 heads out to Bravo 69, while the previous ship undergoes maintenance at Barton, HQ of LACoFD's aviation branch.

Built in 2001, this airframe is the first of a total of five Firehawks operated by the Los Angeles County Fire Department Air Operations out of Barton Heliport, adjacent to the northeast of Whiteman Airport (IATA: WHP; ICAO: KWHP).
