Testing the mighty Allison V-1710 engine. The text on the side, СМЕРТЬ ФАШИЗМУ! (Smert' Fashyzmu!) means as much as Death to Fascism. One of a batch of 11 built in 1996 by Yakovlev in Orenburg, Russia, in this case for a US customer. Registered N234BJ and exported to Germany in 2005. Was for sale in May 2024 by the pilot still mentioned below the canopy: Gerhard Bumüller, "Viper".

Painted to represent a WW2 Soviet Li-2, this was actually OK-GAH delivered to CSA in 1952 and then transferred to the Czech AF in 1957 as 3002

White 45 on display at Fantasy of Flight museum. This I-16 Type 24 originally fitted with a 1,000 hp M-62R engine was one of six rebuilt in Russia in 1997 for the Alpine Fighter Collection from remains discovered in the Leningrad region. It was sold to CAF in 2001 and to Kermit Weeks in 2019. First flown on 31 Dec 1933, the I-16 was then on par with other fighter aircraft. Later outclassed, the 'Ishak' bore the brunt of the Luftwaffe's attack during the opening days of Op Barbarossa. A few I-16s from 123rd and 124th Fighter Aviation Regiment deliberately rammed Luftwaffe fighters in combat.

Parked outside a hangar at the former RAF Bentwaters, Woodbridge, Suffolk, UK. Carries the colours of Soviet Air Force Fighter Regiment 402 IAP. Assembled in 1994 by Strela Aircraft at Orenburg, Russia, closely following Yakovlev's original WW II design but with an all-metal structure. Became D-FJAK in 2002 after some time spent in North America. Imported to the UK by Air Leasing in 2011. Left for Washington State, USA, in 2019 and joined the US register as N102Y.
