Puerto Rico ANG 198 AS C-130E 62-1820 is seen here with the Senior Scout package installed. The Senior Scout system is a radio signal monitoring sensor package carried by the C-130 in a container that fits in the cargo hold. Its aerials can be seen on the rear sidedoor and wheelbays of this Herk.

Hurricanes often terrorize the Caribbean between June and December. Being outside the hurricane belt, Curacao and its airport Hato, is often used as an airport of refuge for other aircraft based in the Caribbean. The Puerto Rico ANG sent three of its Hercules to Hato in September 2004 to escape the inclement weather. The Herk was scrapped in 2010.
