Landed heavily at Atlanta (KATL) on June 19, 1980. Not repaired.

Withdrawn from use in 1981.

A modified cargo Dove with turboprop engines. Previous regns were CC-CAD and N4921V.

While inbound from Wilmington on 19.6.80, TriStar wake vortex caused this Caravelle to land heavily at the approach end of r/y 26. The left main gear collapsed and the aircarft came to rest almost a mile past the runway threshold. Originally delivered to United as N1010U in 10.61 and sold to Sterling as OY-SAM in 1.72, going back to the States with Midwest Air Charter in 5.78

Originally destined for United in 1963 but ntu. Bought from Cruzeiro do Sul (PP-CJC, wfu at Porto Alegre) just five months prior to the photo, this Caravelle became part of the Airborne Express fleet the following June, so is quite rare in these titles. Donated to Ohio History of Flight museum at Port Columbus in 6.85 and remains in external storage there

Caravelles were a rare sight in the USA. This example was withdrawn from use the following year and broken up at Burlington in 1988
