This B-29 was delivered on August 9, 1945, and after the Second World War was assigned to the 509th Bombardment Group stationed at Roswell. After many years on display at Chanute AFB in Illinois, it became part of the collections of the Museum of Nuclear Science in 1993 and was restored in 2015.

Withdrawn from use in 1981 and preserved at Kirtland AFB, NM.

This restored B-52 is part of the collections of the National Museum of Nuclear Science and History because it dropped a hydrogen bomb on Bikini Atoll during Operation Redwing Cherokee in May 1956, and later took part in additional nuclear testing during Operation Dominic in 1962.

Recently restored, this B-47E is on permanent loan from the USAF Museum in Dayton and is now part of the collections of the National Museum of Nuclear Science and History in Albuquerque. In its operational life, this particular aircraft served as a testbed for various projects, most notably the development of fly-by-wire systems. This angle shows the interesting configuration of the B-47's six engines.
